Our Core Beliefs
We believe there is one true, holy God, eternally existing in three persons – Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.
Co-equal and co-eternal, of one substance, power, and eternity, each having the whole divine essence, though the essence is undivided.
Infinite in being and perfection, unchangeable, uncontainable, incomprehensible, almighty, most holy, most wise, most free, most absolute, ultimate, working all things according to the counsel of His own immutable and most righteous will, for His own glory.
Most loving, gracious, merciful, long-suffering, abundant in goodness and truth, forgiving iniquity, transgression, and sin; the rewarder of them that diligently seek Him.
All the while, most just and terrible in His judgments, hating all sin, and who will by no means clear the guilty.
Jesus Christ, God’s son, is both fully God and fully human.
Both natures inseparable from each other in Christ and yet distinct, without mixture or confusion and yet both together in the one person.
God the Father’s only begotten Son, according to the covenant made between them both, to be the mediator between God and man; the prophet, priest, and king; head and savior of the church, the heir of all things, and judge of the world.
He is the second person in the Holy Trinity, eternal God, the brightness of the Father’s glory, of one substance and equal with God.
He took on human nature with all its pains and weaknesses, yet without sin. Conceived in Mary, by the Holy Spirit, while she was still a virgin.
Entirely without sin or blemish, put to death on a Roman cross, carrying the guilt and penalty of the sins of the world, died, and was raised on the third day to new life.
Appeared again in His resurrected body to the apostles and disciples and was taken up into Heaven to sit down at the right hand of the throne of God the Father.
As our Great High Priest, He continues to pray for us every day.
One day He will return to consummate His eternal kingdom and judge the living and the dead.
The Holy Spirit is the third person of the Triune God, sent by the Father and the Son.
He is personal, equal with the Father and the Son. He can be lied to and can be grieved.
He eternally proceeds from the Father and the Son.
Indwells, seals, strengthens, and testifies to believers that they belong to God.
The basis of our belief is the Bible, composed of 66 books of the Old and New Testaments, inspired by God.
Books which have been named deuterocanonical, apocryphal, or pseudepigraphal are not inspired by God and are thus not infallible, inerrant, or morally binding on the church.
The 66 canonical books of the Bible include both the 27 books of the New Testament and the 39 books of the Old Testament. These and these alone constitute “Holy Scripture.”
The Holy Scripture is the only sufficient, certain, and infallible rule of all saving knowledge, faith, and obedience.
A re-established relationship with God through Jesus Christ based wholly on the work of God’s free grace.
After Adam’s disobedience and fall into sin, all of humankind is now born a “natural man.” The natural man, being altogether averse from any goodness or godliness is dead in sin.
Salvation now comes through hearing the message of Christ and His atoning work. It comes by God’s grace alone through faith alone in the finished work of Christ alone, for God’s glory alone.
When God converts a sinner, He places them into the state of grace. He frees them from their natural bondage under sin.
By His grace alone, God now enables them to freely want and to do what is spiritually good. This does not mean they will be perfect, because of the remainder of their fleshly corruptions, but the direction of their life and the desire of their heart has changed from going against God to loving God.
We are created to exist forever, with or without God. A person is saved when they genuinely put their faith in Christ alone to save them from the guilt and punishment of their sin. This person cannot lose their salvation.
Faith in Christ may grow weaker or stronger depending on the season of life, but if it is true faith, God will bring ultimately bring that faith to victory. Christ is the author and finisher of our faith (Hebrews 12:2), and when He begins a good work in someone, He will finish it and make it complete.
God will cause true believers to persevere in their faith. This perseverance does not depend on that person’s free will, but on the unchangeable and incorruptible love and promise of God, founded on His eternal decree of election.
There is one true universal church, known as the “Body of Christ” in Scripture, composed of all those who have been saved by grace through faith in Jesus Christ.
Even the purest churches are subject to mixture and error, and some churches have degenerated as to no longer be churches that belong to Christ, but this does not diminish the true universal church.
Along with this, there are many local churches which are the physical showing of God’s church.
A public testimony for people who have moved from being a seeker to being a believer.
The covenantal union of one man and one woman, as biologically designated at birth.
As Disciples, we are to carry the gospel to the ends of the earth.
